SUYL - BIRTHDAY PARTIES

This week on SUYL - KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTIES!
I am VERY excited about this topic because my little sweetie pie is having his 1st birthday in June. I have actually been planning for it and buying things since Christmas! I hope to get lots of other ideas from other KELLY'SKORNER people!!

Logan LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so I am going with that as a theme. I am going to go with cupcakes instead of cake. I bought a cupcake tree, cupcake wrappers, and cupcake toppers.

I have been buying up stuff to go in little goody-bags. I found a bunch of cute items at Michaels at Christmas time, so I bought more than I probably needed to. I found mini coloring books, crayons, noise makers, puzzles, play-doh, rings (for the girls), stickers, and lots of other cute things. I will be making personalized goody bags for each kiddo who will be attending. I LOVE these bags :) (I had bought other goody-bags, but I do not like them now!)I also thought about making each kid a drawstring bag and embroidering their name on it, but that is alot of work for the amount of kiddos I will be inviting - not to mention I am hosting my S-I-L's baby shower the day before! :)

I am going to order this personlized banner from ETSY. I really like it and it will be a great keepsake.

I am still trying to figure out games to play - for now I am going to go with : "FIND THE BONES". Kids have to find bones (cut out from cardboard and decorated with their names) around the house by crawling on their hands and knees like PLUTO. I also thought of giving kids a task and then putting "mouskatools" in their goodie bags to help them accomplish it??? I think this may be ALOT of work, but it sounded fun!
****IF YOU KNOW OF ANY COOL GAMES, LET ME KNOW*****

I may have have a bubble machine outside (hopefully it is not TOO hot) so the kids can go out and play and the adults can get a small break. Or I may just give each kid bubbles in their goody-bag with a custom wrapper.

IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS LET ME KNOW :)

9 Month checkup - how do I get you to eat more food?

Yeststerday Logan had his 9 month check up. He had been fussy and his nose was running so I was glad to have an appointment already made. I would't just take him in for a runny nose, but since we were going, I wanted to make sure he was not sick. (I do not goto the doctor much and so I guess I really do not take him much either. I grew up "sweating out" fever and we never went much as a kid.) ANYWAY, his pediatrician said that he was in the 5th percentile for weight. He is only 17 lbs 11 oz. I knew he was a lightweight, but thought he was for sure over 18 or 19lbs! He is a healthy baby, but he has always been skinny and has never really packed on any fat. Now he is too busy and is always into things, so he is burning even more calories! He is in the 50-75th percentile for height, so I am guessing he will be like me and his dad were when we were young.
The Dr. said to feed him more solids, and I have been trying to. I recently started him eating solids 2x's per day again. He used to be a great eater, eating a jar of food at a meal, but now he rarely eats 1/2 of it. He loves cheerios and crackers, so I am trying to give him those 2x's a day. I tried bananas (cut up ofcourse) this morning and he WAS NOT HAVING IT! He didn't even want to eat his regular food. He normally loves pears and sweet potato or carrots and apples, but not this morning. I think it might have been because of his runny nose??
Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get him to eat better, I would like to hear/read the comments.

Logan also got another shot yesterday and got his finger stuck for the anemia test. He did really well, but hated sitting still while they were getting enough drops for the test. He let out a good little cry for about 5 seconds when they gave him a shot, but he was fine right after. I prayed all the way home that he would sleep ok at night. Chris would be working all night and Logan had been waking up 8-10 times at night. THANK YOU JESUS! Logan slept really well. He woke at 2:30 and 4:30 and finally at 6:45. The only reason he woke up at 6:45 was because the electricity went out and it turned his white noise machine off. Normally he is up by 6, but I rather enjoyed some "ME" time this morning. I used the time to cut some fabric for a few reversible pillowcase dresses and then to pin some ribbon on some cloth diapers.
It was a GREAT MORNING and the day has been GREAT AS WELL!!!!!

AMEN - PRAISE GOD! I AM BLESSED BEYOND BELIEF!!!
I LOVE THIS BABY BOY and just HAD to put this picture on this post!!!!

It Won't Be Like This For Long

This weekend was a mixture of mountains and valleys, so to speak.
Saturday we enjoyed being home and spending famliy time together. We straightened the house, bought groceries, and started laundry. It was a nice relaxing day.
Sunday morning my hubby left for work and Logan and I enjoyed a little "mommy and son" time. He is playing SO hard now and going everywhere in the house! I wish I had 1/100th of his energy :)

He WILL NOT leave the outlets alone (glad we already had most of the plugs baby-proofed). He gets into the dog bowl, tries to get into the cabinets, and if there is something he isn't supposed to touch, he wants it!

Logan was 39 weeks old yesterday... YEP, STILL doing the blocks, but he will not sit still :)

I have been trying to get him to eat more baby food, so I started feeding him "breakfast" instead of just a bottle. He is eating really good and has even started liking cheerios and crackers. I had tried them a few weeks ago, but he didn't want them. He ate about 20 cheerios yesterday between breakfast and lunch. Most of them he ate while we were at church. He looks like a little bird opening his mouth for me to put a piece of food in. He can pick stuff up and put it in his mouth, but since these pieces are really small, he struggles a little.

Sunday afternoon, my brother and sister-in-law came over to visit, and then my grandparents showed up, too! It was really nice outside, so we went out for a little fun.

After my hubby got home from work, the nightly routine started : playtime, bathtime, making bottles, cleaning bottles, etc... It is a bit like groundhog's day! lol

After Logan went to sleep, I worked on a few orders - a tutu and shirt set, some toothfairy pillows, and a burpcloth. I really love creating!

AND THEN THERE WERE VALLEYS... DEEP VALLEYS!
Logan started waking up every 30 minutes to an hour lastnight. He was fussy and was taking forever to get back to sleep. He usually wakes up on average 4 times a night still, but lastnight was horrible., I felt bad for him, because his little body needs sleep. My hubby and I probably got maybe 2-3 hours of sleep lastnight, but it was in little spurts. I gave Logan medicine (he has been teething) and rubbed some stuff on his gums, but that didn't help one bit. Picking him up didn't help. Neither did patting, rocking, singing, or any of the million things we tried. Finally about 1 AM, all I could do was cry. I had been praying all night that he would rest and we could get rest too. I prayed that if he was hurting or uncomfortable that he would immediately feel relief and that he would be relaxed and able to sleep good. At 2AM I figured maybe God was trying to teach me a lesson in patience and I was failing terribly at this lesson. I do not know what caused my sweet baby boy to loose so much sleep, and I guess I will never know. I just keep reminding myself how blessed I am - I have a wonderful baby boy who is healthy and home and he will not always want me to rock him or pat him or sing to him. It is hard to remember that when you are exhausted from 9 months of sleepless nights, but I know that it is true. "IT WON'T BE LIKE THIS FOR LONG" is my new theme song.

SUYL - MY BLESSED FAMILY

This weeks SUYL topic: FAMILY. I feel so very blessed with the family I have been given! I have a wonderful son and hubby who I love dearly
(and sometimes make me a little crazy too.)

I have great parents who love me so very much and support me in every way possible. They have gone without, many times, so that they could provide my brother and me with things we needed. I will cherish them always. My mom is the best Nana and my dad the best Poppy, ever! Here is a photo of them with my sweetie at Christmas.

My Dad is a man of few words and he will do just about anything for anyone. He is the best! (he hates pictures.... so I do not have many of him)

My mom and I didn't have the best relationship when I was in middle and highschool(MY FAULT), but we do now. We are very different people, but after you grow up and mature, you realize that your parents are really there for you and you must enjoy them while you can. We both started a little business recently (she makes bows, headbands, and other cute stuff - I make clothes, tutu skirts, baby stuff) and have done a craft show together. We both want to make this our full-time job so we can see more of our favorite little man!

Here is a picture of me, my mom, and my sister-in-law at a Christmas Tea at the Arboretum.

This is a picture of me and my brother ( I was like 7 -8 months pregnant). He is married to my super sweet S-I-L (the blonde in the picture above). We used to fight like crazy, but I think once he was bigger than me, I tried to keep the peace. He used to aggrovate me to death, and I usually ended up punching him and getting into trouble... glad those days are over!!!

My brother and his wife are expecting a baby girl in JULY. I cannot wait to spoil her! I have been making lots of special items for her :)

This is my mom and my brother

This is a picture of all of us on a cruise.

OK - so I know I should probably stop here, but I saw these pics and wanted to post them! and I also wanted to post more, but Cannot find my other camera! LOL - when I do, watch out cause I am posting more!!!

This is a picture of my neice and nephew (on my hubby's side) They are very special to me. I just love these kiddos! They fight like crazy (what bro and sis don't?) but every once in a blue moon, they will put up with each other long enough to play Wii or watch TV, like they are here!

This is my sweet little cousin - she used to think I was her sister (LOL) She came to visit at Christmas along with my Aunt (her grandmother). My baby boy just LOVED playing with them both (and so did I).

This is my other aunt - She and her hubby gave Logan this toy and he loves it :) It is in his play room and he can actually get on it now.

Here is Logan with his GG - PaPa doesn't like pictures!!! My M-I-L watches Logan (what a blessing - no daycare) and he really loves seeing her everyday.

This is my RUTHIE :) She is like an aunt to me. I enjoy our breakfast at IHOP!

EXAMPLE of GIVING IT TO GOD

I just found this blog on another blog I follow called KELLY'S KORNER. This family really needs prayer. I think about this family and wonder what I would do if this were my sweet baby boy. http://erikandkatekrull.blogspot.com/2011/03/sweet-dreams.html#comment-form

NICE WALK

I have been super busy this week and it doesn't look like things will slow down any time soon. I wanted to atleast post some pics of our nice walk we had yesterday. It was sooooo nice outside and I wanted to get out of the house before the madness of the night time routine started.

Logan was cracking me up while I was trying to take his picture! He was trying to kick the camera and the angle that I am at makes his legs look about 10 foot long.

THIS WEEKEND

This weekend was a BUSY weekend! I repeat.... it was a BUSY weekend!!!
I had UIL (an academic competition for my MS kids) all day on Saturday. I had to be at school at 7:30 and after a night of only about 3-4 hours of sleep, that was early for me to deal with loud kiddos! lol
My kids did really well and I was very proud of them! 1st, 2nd, 4th,and 5th place in Science and then 1st in Listening. All of the morning practices we had finally paid off.
My hubby went to Monster Jam and didnt get home until almost midnight Saturday. I enjoyed the time I had to play and cuddle with my sweet baby boy, then after he went to sleep I stayed up and made some items and embroidered others.
Another night of minimal sleep on Saturday night meant that Sunday was going to be a long day. I cleaned my closet, the laundry room, and tried to tidy up some of the mess in the house. Evidently I have been slacking a bit on the housework.... I figured if it didn't bother me it didn't bother anyone else??? Guess not!
We made our usual trip for groceries, got them put away, washed and packaged fruit for the week, and then it was time to get sweetie from his nana and poppy. Bath time, night time, sew and embroider, then ready for bed myself.
Luckily, PRAISE THE LORD, sweetie slept all night until 3, he ate, then back alseep until 6:00.
It was a busy weekend... I wonder what next weekend will be like?

FAITHFUL CREATIONS

This week on SUYL : TELL US WHAT YOU MAKE, ETSY STORES, ETC.
My ETSY story started 81/2 months ago after the birth of my baby boy. I never thought I would want to be a SAHM, but after returning to work when he was 12 weeks old, I decided that that is what I wanted to be. It hurt me (and still does) to leave him everday! It is the desire of my heart to be with him and teach him and enjoy the times that I can never get back. So I decided to break the sewing machine out and get started on this dream of mine.
I have been praying about staying home and the name "FAITHFUL CREATIONS by SHELLI" is what I decided to name my store. I am stepping out in faith, believing that with God even the impossible can be possible!
My ETSY store is "FAITHFUL CREATIONS by S". It was started in January. I still have MANY things I will be adding, like tutu and shirt sets, travel changing pads, etc.. you can go to the link below to shop or browse my store:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/FaithfulCreationsbyS?ga_search_query=faithfulcreationsbyS&ga_search_type=seller_usernames

Below are a few of my creations:

This is a cute little onesie with cross applique and a matching burpie.

These are onesie and skirt sets that come in many sizes - the little heart can be embroidered with a name or monogram:

I made a wipe case for my son and then started making more! they are super cute and if you are like me, you want everything to match.

I love this one

I make all kinds of Lovey blankets, but these are a few of my favorites. Flannel or cute cotton on one side and minky or chenille on the other!

This is a matching burpie and bib I made lastnight

A few Burpies - I also monogram or personlaize these with names.

THESE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE LITTLE ITEMS - TOOTHFAIRY PILLOWS! CUTE and SWEET but I also have some in camo :)

OK - I am just going post pics below of other items I make (pillowcase dresses, etc...)
