My first haircut!

I was blessed with long hair at birth... Even after most fell out, it quickly grew and some people think I am a GIRL...YUCK! My mommy and daddy decided to get me a big boy haircut. They took me to the place my daddy gets his haircut (Archie's). Here are a few BEFORE shots, so you can see just how long my hair was.

When we got to Archie's, mommy and daddy decided to bring the DVD player in and let me watch RIO so that I would sit still...good idea folks!!!! I did not mind the haircut and only fussed when he tried to put this towel over my shoulders. I was like "uh, no way buddy!" I sat pretty still the whole time, except when Archie got in front of my video. Here are a few shots of the process.

By the way, I got to stay in mommy's lap and daddy kindly took pictures of this eventful day! For some reason, mommy and daddy picked up some of the hair off the floor and kept it??? WEIRDO'S!

things i have learned

1. I am not as tough and independent as i thought
2. Some moms have all the luck, some moms have nothing but the pain :)
3. I complain WAY more than I should
4. I need to pray more
5. Do NOT read a sleep help book for your child and follow it exactly... every child is different and you should acknowledge that
6. Sleep is great, but time with your baby is even greater
7. its harder to stay home than work outside the home, but it is more joyful to stay home with your baby than be away
8. I have a hubby unlike no other - helpful, supportive, and loving are only 3 of his greatest qualities - sexy beast, you!!!
9. I like my mom and dad a lot more than I ever (or I think anyone else for that matter) thought I ever could :) I have always loved them
10. Some kids just sleep and eat... some kids just don't - I got the last one!
11. I am stronger than I thought I ever could be sometimes
12. I have about 6 grey hairs.. that I can SEE! and nope, I ain't doing nothing about them!
13..... more to come

Summer Lovin'

This has by far, been one of the BEST and WORST summers I have EVER had in my ENTIRE life. Last summer was really great- The birth of a new bundle of joy. I had all summer with him to learn who he was, get to know him, and bond with him. It was a joyous and stressful time. If you know anything about my situation after Logan was born, then you know as happy and elated as I was to have such a sweet little miracle enter my life, it also was a very tough and almost depressing time. Nevertheless, I chose that path and I would still choose it again today, even knowing what I would go through.

(excuse the 50 lbs of "water weight" here!!!) lol

This summer is different in SOOO many ways. I looked forward to summer with Logan from the day I went back to work when he was about 12 weeks old. I cried almost everyday I had to leave him until almost Christmas break. The crying subsided to only once a week, but I still had sadness in my heart. I learned to enjoy the time we had and spend every minute I could with him. I wouldn't change that either! I know many mothers feel the need to go out, be who they were before their child was born, etc... but I do not feel that need. Yes, I like to spend time alone with my hubby, he is special to me and I love him dearly. However, we both love time with our child, the child we WILLINGLY chose to have. I am mommy now- not some bar hopping, risque clothed, go out and party woman. (I was never any of those before though) lol I just think it is funny how some people cannot wait to get a night alone or a free weekend from their infant. I am just now allowing the thought of possibly letting Logan stay the night away. I am sure it will not happen soon, thought. When I am away from him during the work week, why would I want to pawn him off on someone and miss time with him? I am sure one of these months I will understand, but I just don't right now. All that being said, I have cherished every second I have been blessed to spend with my sweetie. There have been days when I was frustrated and felt I couldn't take one more minute, but it is all about perspective and prayer. Logan and I have enjoyed so many special moments this summer, and though he won't remember them specifically, I know it has laid the groundwork for lots of special memories and a close bond in the future.

I am typing this wondering how in the world will I get through tomorrow?? I know I will because I have to, because God will help me. But it is going to be really hard!!! Without my hubby here all the time, it makes it harder for me to deal with things. I rely on him and count on him for a lot more than I thought. He keeps me emotionally stable, although sometimes makes me crazy! Well, I do not even know where I started, but I am going to end it here.... Pray for me tomorrow!!!

Window Seal

This window seal is Logan's favorite place in the house... besides my lap!!!

At Ben Gill

It is SO very hot (100+) this summer, so it is really hard to be outside. I have taken Logan to this little playground at Ben Gill a few mornings around 7:30 or 8:00. It stays shaded until about 10:30 or 11:00, but we are long gone before that! He LOVES the slide and picking up bottle caps people have left behind!

BATH TIME FUN

Boy does this kid love a bath :)

a little of everything about nothing

I have been so busy that I have not posted really at all this summer. That is the way I wanted it, so I am not complaining! Last summer I had alot of post-pregnancy issues and didn't really leave the house once Logan was about 10 days old. I guess I am just making up for staying in so long... Logan and I have only stayed home 1 day since I officially started summer. We do not always go on long outings, but we always "go".
Since he is so young, it doesn't take lots of money to make him happy, so we have been having "frugal fun" for the most part!
We have a zoo membership that we have used several times and taken different people with us.

We go swimming at least once a week (thanks Angie and Holly) in "big pools", and swim in our little home pool.

We usually make a trip to Target, Walmart, CVS, and a few other stores having great deals during the week. (I am SOOO glad I bought a DVD player because it has been a lifesaver getting him in and out of the car.)

We went bowling with Janet her kiddos... it was really fun and all free since they didn't have shoes to fit Logan. He really enjoyed bowling, but my back hurt from "helping" him :) We stayed and even "played" games for about 30-45 minuted after bowling. He is his father's son!!! He loved all the big video games.

We went to Chuck E Cheese and it was free (lol - kind of... THANKS JANET). Once again, he LOVED the games and climbing on everything. Now that he is walking, it really is much easier!! everyone said it would be harder?? I love the pic of him and Bailey because they were holding n to each other... the car ride freaked them out, but it was too cute! (There was no crying)

Today we went to several stores and then I thought we would take a "field trip" to PETCO.. He loved it! He really liked the iguana... and the fish... oh, and the 2 cats they had! I guess someone will have to tell Logan his mommy and daddy are allergic, and so is he!! LOL

Well, We have been busy, and I do not plan on slowing down. I am enjoying this summer, but unfortunately it is going by at WARP SPEED! ugh... I really want to stay home! YES..I get frustrated at Logan and I feel like I can't rinse one more bottle, change one more diaper, pat him one more time, or rock him one more minute... but the thought quickly fades. I love that he gives me hugs and kisses now. The ones where he is half asleep but pops him head back up to give me an eye-closed, making sure momma is still there, little peck on the lips - OH MAN, he just melts my heart ( a phrase my dads always uses).

I have had such a blast, I forgot till just now that my AC was out for about 11 days in June!!! Wow, how time makes the bad things fade :)

WALKING EVERYWHERE!

A few days after Logan's 1st birthday, he started taking 2-3tentative steps. I thought it might still take him a long time before he was fully walking (because of how long it took him to actually crawl instead of scoot), but he is off and running!!!! He is soooo funny! I just laugh at how he walks with his hands up by his chest and little tummy and booty sticking out.

summertime

I haven's posted much since my "summer" started... I have been busy and the internet at home has not cooperated!

Every day so far this "summer" we play outside and take a walk around 7:30 and I have gotten Logan to take his first nap at about 9am until about 10:30am... I love a schedule!!!! After his nap, we get going and have been swimming, shopping, out to lunch, visiting people, etc.... He really does not like the car seat, so one day I decided to hook up a portable DVD player and he seems to like it much better!!! He is still rear-facing, but you can get anything to work when it seems necessary!!!!! His second nap has been partially in the car, but he has stayed asleep after I transition him into his crib.
He is REALLY eating better now - He has been eating bananas and yogurt, puffs and cheerios, and even ate some spaghetti and grilled cheese! I am SOOO thankful! I just do not want his progress to change when I go to a workshop next week.... WE SHALL SEE!!!!
This past weekend was full of activity! We had my SIL's baby shower and my husbands family reunion and my family reunion, too. His is farther away and we did not go. We went to see my family for about 2 hours and got a picture of 5 generations.... PRETTY RARE!!!!

UPCOMING EVENTS - freezer meal group tomorrow, 1 year checkup and shopping Thursday, zoo and swimming on Friday. . . more pictures soon!!!!!

Logan's 1st Birthday Party!

So very hard to believe Logan had his 1st birthday party Saturday! He has gotten so big and the time really has flown by!!!

Dear Logan,
It seems like yesterday that we found out we were going to have you...and the love and joy in our hearts has grown ever since that day. We love you so much and you are such a blessing to us. Everyday brings something new and each day you hold a bigger part of our hearts. From the moment I heard you cry, held you in my arms, smelled your skin, and kissed you, you had me hooked!!! Mommy and Daddy Love you!!!! You will never just how much you mean to us, until you have a little on of your own....which WILL be a long time from now!!! lol

It was so hot outside Saturday and there was no breeze, but our guests seemed to still enjoy the party. We started with cupcakes and punch inside. Logan does not like sweets, but he did give us a few photo opts with his cupcake! He proceeded to get the icing in his hair and all over him, but didn't really eat it! After that, the day went a little downhill... a 45 min nap all day had him super sleepy and allergies and a cold had him a little fussy. I finally got him to take a nap (while all our guests were doing who knows what)and he slept just enough to stay up the rest of the party!

We headed outside to play a little bit. We borrowed a bounce house from my SIL and BIL (thank goodness). We also had the baby pool set up and all the kid toys outside.

Logan got SOOOO many gifts.... We are blessed with a wonderful family and group of friends who love Logan so very much!

Thanks to my wonderful hubby for cleaning and cooking and so many others things to prepare for the party!

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED US CELEBRATE, AND THE LUCKY ONES WHO WERE ALLOWED TO HELP US CLEAN UP!!! lol
