It Won't Be Like This For Long

This weekend was a mixture of mountains and valleys, so to speak.
Saturday we enjoyed being home and spending famliy time together. We straightened the house, bought groceries, and started laundry. It was a nice relaxing day.
Sunday morning my hubby left for work and Logan and I enjoyed a little "mommy and son" time. He is playing SO hard now and going everywhere in the house! I wish I had 1/100th of his energy :)

He WILL NOT leave the outlets alone (glad we already had most of the plugs baby-proofed). He gets into the dog bowl, tries to get into the cabinets, and if there is something he isn't supposed to touch, he wants it!

Logan was 39 weeks old yesterday... YEP, STILL doing the blocks, but he will not sit still :)

I have been trying to get him to eat more baby food, so I started feeding him "breakfast" instead of just a bottle. He is eating really good and has even started liking cheerios and crackers. I had tried them a few weeks ago, but he didn't want them. He ate about 20 cheerios yesterday between breakfast and lunch. Most of them he ate while we were at church. He looks like a little bird opening his mouth for me to put a piece of food in. He can pick stuff up and put it in his mouth, but since these pieces are really small, he struggles a little.

Sunday afternoon, my brother and sister-in-law came over to visit, and then my grandparents showed up, too! It was really nice outside, so we went out for a little fun.

After my hubby got home from work, the nightly routine started : playtime, bathtime, making bottles, cleaning bottles, etc... It is a bit like groundhog's day! lol

After Logan went to sleep, I worked on a few orders - a tutu and shirt set, some toothfairy pillows, and a burpcloth. I really love creating!

AND THEN THERE WERE VALLEYS... DEEP VALLEYS!
Logan started waking up every 30 minutes to an hour lastnight. He was fussy and was taking forever to get back to sleep. He usually wakes up on average 4 times a night still, but lastnight was horrible., I felt bad for him, because his little body needs sleep. My hubby and I probably got maybe 2-3 hours of sleep lastnight, but it was in little spurts. I gave Logan medicine (he has been teething) and rubbed some stuff on his gums, but that didn't help one bit. Picking him up didn't help. Neither did patting, rocking, singing, or any of the million things we tried. Finally about 1 AM, all I could do was cry. I had been praying all night that he would rest and we could get rest too. I prayed that if he was hurting or uncomfortable that he would immediately feel relief and that he would be relaxed and able to sleep good. At 2AM I figured maybe God was trying to teach me a lesson in patience and I was failing terribly at this lesson. I do not know what caused my sweet baby boy to loose so much sleep, and I guess I will never know. I just keep reminding myself how blessed I am - I have a wonderful baby boy who is healthy and home and he will not always want me to rock him or pat him or sing to him. It is hard to remember that when you are exhausted from 9 months of sleepless nights, but I know that it is true. "IT WON'T BE LIKE THIS FOR LONG" is my new theme song.

  2. These difficult times seem to go on forever when they are happening. You don't believe things will change for the better, but they do, and your memory will deceive you. What? He was doing that TEN years ago? Then twenty...and then your children will call you for advice on how to get THEIR children to sleep. And you will be the calm voice of reason in the midst of their storm because God allowed you to walk through the valley first!

  3. Thanks for popping over to visit us.

I always think to myself that I wish my kids were stil toddlers because then my house would be clean and they wouldn't be getting into everything! This school age time is tough, too. I guess when you get past one stage, the other stages are forgotten. I had forgotten all about the playing with the outlets, pulling pots and pans out of the cabinets. They are just taller now and can pull everything out of the taller cabinets!!! HA!

    Very cute pictures.
